At SANTS, excellence is more than a value,  it is a lived experience. Across the country, our graduates are not only entering classrooms, but also rising to positions of leadership, innovation, and national recognition. Let’s meet a few of these inspiring individuals whose success demonstrates that a qualification from SANTS is just the beginning of a lifelong journey of educational excellence.

Academic Excellence Through Faculty Achievement

Our commitment to academic integrity is further demonstrated by the example set by our faculty. A shining example is Dr Winny Thusi from the Early Childhood Education Unit, who was recently awarded her PhD in Education by the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Her doctoral thesis, titled “Preparing isiZulu First Additional Language Educators for Multilingual Classrooms,” offers a critical contribution to multilingual education in South Africa. Her work calls for curriculum reform and the professional development of educators to support linguistically diverse classrooms. Dr Thusi’s scholarly achievement brings honour to SANTS and reinforces our role as a hub for academic leadership and thought development.

At SANTS, excellence is measured not only by achievement but by transformation. This commitment to academic integrity is deeply embedded in our faculty, research, and leadership.

A National Footprint of Teaching Excellence

SANTS graduates are making a difference in township schools, rural communities, and urban centres alike. They teach, mentor, lead, and often support the next generation of teachers through WIL (Work-Integrated Learning) supervision. Many also serve in teacher unions and professional associations, advancing the profession as a whole.
