SANTS Private Higher Education Institution was established in 1997 as a private education and training provider. Over the past 21 years, SANTS has presented various programmes and qualifications in the education sector to more than 30 000 educators.
SANTS began its operations as a relatively small-scale organisation offering expertise to the newly reorganised Provincial Education Departments. Over the next few years, we gained a number of contracts to present in-service training programmes for these departments. By 2001, with an impressive track record and increasing demand for our services, SANTS was able to grow and diversify, with the focus on Early Childhood Development (ECD) and Continuing Teacher Development programmes.
SANTS has trained more than 17 000 ECD Practitioners nationally on NQF Levels 1, 4 and 5. In excess of 9 000 educators and adult learners have been trained in Curriculum Development Programmes in Mathematics, Language Development, Natural Sciences, Management and Leadership Programmes. We have done extensive research on various aspects of education and human resource development for various Government Departments including the Departments of Education, Health, Social Development and Transport.
In 2012, SANTS registered as a Distance Private Higher Education Institution at the Department of Higher Education and Training with the focus on Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programmes. In excess of 3 000 newly qualified teachers graduated from the Diploma in Grade R Teaching, B Ed Foundation and Intermediate Phase Teaching programmes since.
Today SANTS has more than 4 000 students registered on our higher education programmes across Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, KwaZulu- Natal, Free State, North West and Eastern Cape.
