19 JulSANTS Celebrates International Mandela Day
Nelson Mandela International Day (or Mandela Day) is an annual international day in honour of Nelson Mandela, celebrated each year on 18 July, Mandela’s birthday. The day was officially declared by the United Nations in November 2009, with the first UN Mandela Day held on 18 July 2010. Mandela Day is a global call to action that celebrates the idea that each individual has the power to transform the world, and the ability to make an impact. The theme for Nelson Mandela International Day 2022 is “do what you can with what you have and where you are,” according to the United Nations and on this occasion, the Nelson Mandela Foundation will focus on its food and nutrition program. In commemoration of Nelson Mandela Day, SANTS entrusted its Social Development Committee (Pictured) to deliver goodies to the Eersterust Welfare Organization for the Aged and Starfish Babies, a safe house for abandoned babies. We will also be visiting the Wollies Animal Shelter over the weekend. We believe in lending a helping hand to the vulnerable and less fortunate.
