My experience at SANTS has been amazing. I am a self- paying student, but I am still continuing my studies. SANTS has given me a chance to study. If you are a student like me do not loose hope. SANTS is reliable and they assist you in every way they can. Believe me it has not been easy, but with SANTS your a future is possible.
I like the fact that the quality of the education here is of very high standard. I also like our Tutors who do their level best to support us, all of them.
2019 highlights your achievement in obtaining the Diploma in Grade R Teaching. We applaud you for this achievement! Many of you endured hardships whilst studying over the last few years and we salute you for your resilience and for making SANTS and your loved ones proud!
In South Africa, the 8 million children in the age range 0-6 years constitute 15% of the entire South African population. If we as a nation depend on our youth to ensure and sustain the change we need to ensure and safeguard a prosperous democratic dispensation, this age group necessitates special and unceasing attention. Member states of the United Nations adopted the new Sustainable Developmental Goals (SDGs) in 2015 with objectives such as ending poverty, confirming inclusive, just and peaceful societies and protecting the natural environment.
As a developing country, South Africa’s implementation of the SDGs can be seen within the existing regional and national strategic plans such as the African Union’s agenda 2063 and the National Development Plan. In order to adhere to the Pan-African vision of integration, solidarity and unity on both the continental and the South African level, Higher Education Institutions such as SANTS have a crucial role to play in endorsing high-quality and relevant education for teaching and learning for this particular age group.
Within this context, our hope for you is to be the teacher we need to take South Africa forward; to be the teacher who will embrace the following:
• Play as a means to teach, because Grade R children need the movement and the laughter to develop to their full potential.
• Values and to act as a role model for Grade R children to understand how to act responsibly and respectfully towards the self and others.
• Awareness of wonder, as Grade R children, needs to see the wonder of LIFE.
In your playroom or classroom and in your communities, you will identify opportunities to touch the lives of many children and their families as the qualified Grade R teacher that you now are. Share your specialised knowledge and skills, your creativity and your passion for young children and their future. Kindle your inquisitive spirit in becoming the lifelong learner; sharing, inspiring and making a difference!
